Leia Everett
Producer
Leia Everett is a filmmaker from Portland, Oregon. She created her first YouTube channel, rockstar13studios, when she was 12 and started posting comedic stop-motions that she’d make with her American Girl Dolls. Her stop-motions helped her gain experience with all aspects of film production, from character development, screenwriting, and voice-acting, to animation and editing. Over the years, rockstar13studios has gained a worldwide audience of 30,000 subscribers and over 6.5 million views. During her junior year of high school, Leia wrote and directed "Snow Business,” which went on to be screened at the 2018 All American High School Film Festival in Times Square in New York City.
In spring 2017, Leia began to work on another fan-made adaptation of the Percy Jackson book series, based in Oregon. She served as executive producer and director, and managed everything, including casting, planning a 7-month filming schedule, locations, on-set production, and editing. The series’ channel has received over 1 million combined views and 12,000 subscribers. Her current projects include taking the production of her stop-motion videos to YouTube Space LA and working on producing music and visuals for a 15-minute long music video.
Leia likes to create films that involve characters and stories based on her own real life experiences. These dramatic and funny retellings are her way of making light of situations and laughing at things that happened in her past. Comedy is her favorite type of film to make, and her goal is for her films to show people that everyday life can be used as inspiration to create something that says, “laugh at it and life goes on.”
Leia is currently studying Film & Electronic Arts at California State University, Long Beach.
